Manchester United cars: Zlatan Ibrahimovic leads group of players driving incredibly modest vehicles to training

POCKETING a weekly salary which most people don’t earn in a year means footballers are always likely to splash out on extravagant cars.

But a handful of Manchester United aces wouldn’t have looked out of place pootling along the local high street as they pulled up to training in some rather modest vehicles.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has often courted controversy with his larger-than-life personality, but the Swede was playing things surprisingly safe as he rolled up to Carrington in a Volvo.

Ibrahimovic pockets an astonishing £220,000-per-week, meaning he’s saving an absolute fortune with the £32,000 motor.

Matteo Darmian followed behind in a £30,000 Jeep Wrangler while £200,000-a-week Bastian Schweinsteiger turned heads in a £22,000 Mini Cooper.

But it was goalie Sergio Romero who stole the show with his tiny Fiat 500 – which starts at a very reasonable £10,000.

However, the rest of United’s players were not put off from taking their biggest and boldest cars out of the garages.

Phil Jones opted for his grand Bentley as Henrikh Mkhitaryan rolled up in a stunning white Lamborghini alongside Marcus Rashford in his new Mercedes.

But it was Wayne Rooney who was the man of the hour in his futuristic BMW i8, delighting one captivated fan who had travelled all the way from Hong Kong with an incredibly realistic drawing of the Red Devils captain.
