LEICESTER have moved to snap up midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from Genk in a deal potentially worth £18million.
The champs are struggling to recreate last season’s historic performances and find themselves just three points above the relegation zone.
Pundits and fans have pointed to the loss of N’Golo Kante as a critical factor, with the tenacious midfielder now six points clear at the top with Chelsea.
And after failing to fill the void left by the Frenchman over the summer, the Foxes have now splashed £15million on Ndidi as they also prepare to face Sevilla in the Champions League last 16.
The 20-year-old is considered to be one of the brightest prospects in the Belgian league, scoring four goals in 62 appearances for Genk since 2015, and the fee could rise to £18m with add-ons.
Ndidi has already undergone preliminary tests with Leicester and will move to the King Power Stadium at the start of January, subject to a final medical.
There could potentially be more transfer activity under Claudio Ranieri, with No.1 Kasper Schmeichel being lined up for a move to Liverpool.
