“This season has been difficult as I was injured for a month and a half.

“I don’t want to talk too much about me but it was a big day to score.

“It was a turning point for the team because if we didn’t win we would have been in trouble.”

Before his recall, he had not started a league game since scoring a hat-trick against Aston Villa on the final day last season.

He added: “The boss explained to me why I hadn’t played too much but it is all about keeping focus. Always keep working hard at training.”
