Chelsea transfer news: Mario Pasalic could join AC Milan permanently next summer as Italians reveal clause
Croatian midfielder tipped to emulate Luka Modric but could now be set to swap Stamford Bridge for San Siro full time
AC MILAN have confirmed they are interested in buying highly-rated Chelsea youngster Mario Pasalic next summer.
The Croatian ace is currently on loan at the San Siro and he has impressed with seven appearances in the last two months.
Reports in September claimed Chelsea were ready to bring Pasalic back to Stamford Bridge following his slow start to life in Italy.
But the 21-year-old has since shown glimpses of his undoubted talent which has seen him compared to compatriot and Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric.
Now, Milan are ready to make Pasalic’s move permanent as they look to work their way back into the Champions League.
Antonio Conte has shown he’s ready to hand youth a chance at Stamford Bridge.
But the passionate gaffer might not have a say in Pasalic’s future, with Milan claiming an option to buy was included in the deal which saw the midfielder join them in August.
CEO Adriano Galliani said: “Pasalic is a player who did well at youth level, but his progress was stalled by injuries. He can come back to being what he was.
“In Croatia Pasalic is considered to be on the same level as Luka Modric, who is one of the best midfielders in the world. We had this opportunity, we do have the option to buy and we’ll see what to do next summer.”
