HOWARD WEBB has called for Craig Pawson to be dropped from mouthwatering clash between Liverpool vs Manchester City after disastrous week .
Pawson sent off Jamie Vardy against Stoke City in what was a controversial decision on Saturday afternoon just days after failing to dismiss Manchester United centre back Marcos Rojo.
The 37 year old was considered to have got the high profile decisions wrong and it does not look good for the referee when he is potentially costing clubs points and worse Premier League survival.
Webb, speaking to BT Sport, said: ''He's been given, on New Year's Eve, Liverpool against Manchester City.''
''I don't think he should be on that game, not after the performance he gave on Wednesday night.
'We're accountable, we make mistakes, we influence the outcome of games and we should pay the price.''

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri was outraged by Pawson's actions and the Italian confronted the official at half-time but did not get the answers he was looking for with goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel having to calm his usually cool, calm and collected boss down.
It remains to be seen if the Foxes will appeal the red card of Vardy but the club are said to be disappointed at the way the challenge was handled by Pawson.
Pawson sent Vardy off for what appeared to be a two footed lunge on Mama Biram Diouf which in the football law book should be a straight red.
However Pawson's failure to read the situation meant that he missed Vardy being nudged by Glen Johnson which caused Vardy to lose balance and make his tackle seem a lot worse than what it was.
