ANDRE GOMES has refused to be drawn into the Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi debate – because he plays with both of them.

The midfield playmaker has been Messi’s teammate at Barcelona since the summer after moving to the Nou Camp from Valencia.

But Gomes also shares the pitch for Ronaldo for Portugal, meaning he was faced with a real dilemma when quizzed on who is better.

Speaking to Catalunya Radio’s Tot Costa programme, Gomes said: “I do not like to compare them out of respect.

“I will never answer it. I’m Portuguese and I have affection for Cristiano. As much as I do for Messi, who is my teammate at Barcelona.”

Ronaldo has the upper hand these days after helping himself to a fourth Ballon d’Or award.

The ex-Manchester United star led Real to Champions League glory in May before winning Euro 2016 with his country.
