CRISTIANO RONALDO is the best player Real Madrid have ever had, insists former Spain and Los Blancos coach Vicente del Bosque.
High praise indeed from Del Bosque, himself a legendary former Real player.
But it can be easily argued that Ronaldo, who won the Ballon d'Or for the fourth time on Monday, is almost a one-off.
Ronaldo beat Barcelona icon Lionel Messi to the world's most prestigious individual award having played a major role in Champions League and Euro 2016 wins for club and country respectively.
Madrid have had a large number of legendary players in their ranks.
They include the likes of Alfredo Di Stefano, the winner of five European Cups with the club, Ferenc Puskas, Luis Figo, ex-Brazil striker Ronaldo, current coach Zinedine Zidane and many more.

But Del Bosque says the Santiago Bernabeu are witnessing the best player ever to have pulled on the white jersey.
He said: "Ronaldo is the best player in the history of Madrid through the records that he has set.
But he always does it without devaluing other players."
While Ronaldo continues to win plaudits and praise, Del Bosque was disappointed that Andres Iniesta has never won the award, despite immense success for club and country.
"Iniesta is a good player," he added. "Nothing changes that journalists do not take it into account in the votes for the Ballon d'Or."
