Manchester City injury crock Vincent Kompany named biggest loser of 2016 by Belgian football magazine

VINCENT KOMPANY has been named the number one 'Loser of 2016' by Belgian magazine Sport/Foot.
The Manchester City captain has suffered a year of injuries that would only happen to most footballers in their worst nightmares.
He sat out all of Euro 2016 with a thigh injury and started just two Premier League games this season before coming off injured again away at Crystal Palace.
Even though Kompany has suffered a worse 2016 than David Cameron and Hillary Clinton put together, at least nobody has suggested it's been his fault... until now.
Sport/Foot have scathingly criticised the Belgium defender, saying that even when he was fit, his performances this year "failed to get the crowds excited".
They wrote: "Vince the Prince, best player in the Premier League, probably the best defender in the world, Belgium and basically Belgium FA boss.
"All of that is so far away. When Guardiola says he still counts on him at City, we wonder if he’s just being funny.
“With the national team, his authority excesses have started to grate. No one even talks about his influence on the FA anymore.
"Kompany is a big injured body whose performances have failed to get crowds excited for some time now.”

The magazine decided Kompany was such a loser that he edged out former Belgium boss Marc Wilmots to the top 'prize'.
Wilmots was jokingly described as a "Eurosceptic" after leading the most talented Belgian national team ever to a dreadful 3-1 Euro 2016 quarter-final exit against Wales after a series of underwhelming performances.
In third place came former Anderlecht boss Besnik Hasi who was sacked by both the Belgian side and Legia Warsaw.
Man City fans may disagree with the magazine having been forced to watch half a season without their captain.
The hapless back three of John Stones, Bacary Sagna and Alexander Kolarov shipped three goals in the first 20 minutes of Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Leicester.
And although Kolarov did better with Nicolas Otamendi in last night's 2-0 win over Watford, the Hornets could have easily snatched a point if Odion Ighalo and Etienne Capoue hadn't missed gilt-edged late chances.
The gloss was also taken off the victory by an injury to Ilkay Gundogan, who will miss the rest of the season.
