ARSENE WENGER is desperate for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to remain at the club.
The popular Arsenal midfielder has become increasingly frustrated at his lack of game time and has completed 90 minutes just once this term despite delivering six goals and six assists.
Wenger said: “I want Oxlade-Chamberlain to stay at the club. I bought him at a very young age and I think he is developing well. This season he is making steps and he is moving forward.
“I think the player loves it here. He is integrated with the qualities we want him to have and overall I want him to stay.
“I believe that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s career, like Theo Walcott’s career, has been stopped many times by injuries. He had many, many setbacks.
“Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is much more efficient going forward now. He can provide - he provided a good final ball for Ozil on Saturday - and he can score goals himself. That’s what you want from him.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain is hoping to start tonight as Arsenal look to maintain their unbeaten away record
Asked about the team’s success away from the Emirates, Wenger added: “It is the fact that we try to play like we do at home.
"Also when we play at home everybody plays a bit deeper.
“Everton will be tough. He (Koeman) has done a good job at Everton and at Southampton as well.
We played against him as well when he was the Ajax manager and it was always a very tight and very difficult game."
