Zlatan Ibrahimovic reveals what he said to Paul Pogba before he took free-kick against Tottenham… and it’s brilliant

Just seconds before Pogba unleashed a free-kick that rattled off the crossbar against Spurs, Ibrahimovic sent him a warning...

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has revealed what he said to Manchester United teammate Paul Pogba as the world's most expensive player stepped up to take a free kick against Spurs on Sunday.

In an interview with MUTV after the 1-0 win over Spurs, the Swede revealed that he issued the 23-year old with a stern warning that it would be the last free kick he would be given if he failed to score.

Ibrahimovic revealed: "I said to Paul [Pogba] 'You better shoot in the goal, because this is the last free-kick I'll give you'.

"Nah, he shot into the crossbar. If it had gone in it would have given us more space, not to calm down, but you feel more confident when you're 2-0 up because you never know - especially after the last game when we concede at the end."

Sadly for the French international, who joined United from Juventus in the summer, he watched his effort hit the woodwork.

It could be some time before Pogba is allowed to resume free kick duties should the former PSG front man follow through with his punishment.

It was Henrikh Mkhitaryan who emerged as the hero on Sunday as United edged a nervy encounter against Tottenham.

Mkhitaryan fully justified his inclusion in the starting XI, raced clear of the Spurs defence following a mistake from Harry Kane and put a perfectly-weighted Ander Herrera through ball high beyond the helpless Hugo Lloris.
