Man City vs Celtic team news: Sergio Aguero DROPPED to the bench after Chelsea sending off

Brendan Rodgers brings his Celtic side to the Etihad for a game of pride - and is hoping to cause another upset

SERGIO AGUERO has been dropped for Manchester City's Champions League tie at Celtic - while Fernandinho, who was also sent off against Chelsea, is not even in the squad.

The pair were disgraced after City lost their discipline in the home defeat to Chelsea - but Pep Guardiola could have selected them if he wishes.

Vincent Kompany is missing though, and despite no new injury concerns, Raheem Sterling is considered a doubt.

For the Hoops, last season’s top goalscorer Leigh Griffiths looks set to miss out with a knock.

Winger Scott Sinclair will also be unavailable  against his old club after he was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

But Patrick Roberts will be eligible to face City despite being on loan from the Etihad.

The big picture

City are destined to finish second in the group, barring Barcelona getting a 7-0 tonking by Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Celtic are only playing for pride but will want to impress after the 3-3 draw during their first meeting.
