ROBERTO CARLOS has stoked the fire ahead of Saturday's eagerly-anticipated El Clasico showdown, by calling Cristiano Ronaldo the best player on the planet.
Barcelona play host to Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid at 3.15pm and while the CR7 vs Lionel Messi debate continues to divide the planet, the former Brazil defender said the answer is 'very easy'.
Ex-Real Madrid defender Carlos said: "Talking about Cristiano is very easy. He is the best in the world.

"A truly great player, and everyone keeps saying he continues scoring the most important goals of his career.
"Cristiano is the best in the world, still.

"For everything he represents and everything that he is doing for Spanish football and Real Madrid, I think he will win for everything he is doing, has done. He is a sensational player.
"He is consistent and a team player from another level.

Ronaldo is the leading scorer in La Liga this season with ten strikes to his name - one more than arch-nemesis Messi on nine.
Madrid travel to fierce rivals and reigning La Liga champions Barca for the first time since April of this year, when goals from Ronaldo and Karim Benzema sealed a 2-1 win at the Nou Camp.
Last season, CR7 netted 51 goals in just 48 games, including 12 in Real's Champions League success before playing a crucial role in leading Portugal to a shock Euro 2016 win.
Tet despite all that, he has not been without his critics this season, with many suggesting he may be past his best.
However, the boost from club legend Carlos will be a welcome boost going into the crunch showdown.
