MANCHESTER UNITED will face Hull on a Thursday in their EFL Cup semi-final clash.

The dates for the last-four games in the League Cup were revealed today.

Liverpool play Southampton in the competition's other tie, both of which are two-leg affairs.

And when the Red Devils visit the KCOM for their second game, it will be a familiar feeling for a side that will have already played six times on a Thursday night this season.

United's Europa League involvement means that they have faced both Feyenoord and Fenerbahce twice so far on Thursdays.

They have also entertained Zorya at Old Trafford, with the reverse fixture taking place in Ukraine in a few days six days time.

The unusual day for a League Cup semi has come about because both Hull and Southampton are in action on Sunday January 22.

Mike Phelan's side take a trip to Hull, while Saints host Leicester.

Should one of them have played on Tuesday, they would have little more than 48 hours to prepare for the game.

Hull have been the side to profit from an extra 24 hours recover time.

The Tigers' first leg will take place on a Tuesday.

Both of Saints and Liverpool's clashes will take place on Wednesdays.

Hull sealed their spot thanks to a penalty shootout victory over Newcastle, while United found form with a 4-1 win over West Ham.

Southampton produced the performance of the quarter-finals to grab a 2-0 win at Arsenal, while Liverpool knocked Leeds out with the same scoreline as Ben Woodburn became the club's youngest-ever scorer.
