And in an interview with , Ozil was directly asked if he would be open to playing for Madrid again - and smiled 'you never know'.
He said: "I am very happy playing in such a big club like Arsenal, which has amazing fans and they also encourage me a lot.
"I am playing very well in London, but in football you never know… We’ll see what happens in the future."
The playmaker was then asked if he missed Madrid, a city where he spent three years following a move from Bremen in 2010.
He continued: “I miss the times [laughs]. That sun is… there is always sun.
"I tell you, I have great memories from there, with the club, the city, people.
"Of course, sometimes you stop and think and well, you can miss it,
"Now I am happy at Arsenal, but you never know what can happen in the future. We will see.”
Ozil's contract runs until 2018 and there is little chance of him leaving before then except for a huge offer.
But his comments to a paper so aligned with Madrid will not be music to Wenger's ears, who would prefer the Turk-born German to quash any rumours before they grew.
When asked if it was a mistake leaving in 2013, Ozil is finally firm with his response.
He replied: "I do not make mistakes. I’m happy to have taken this adventure in England, having grown as a player and as a person.
"I am also very happy to play in such a big club like Arsenal.”
