Liverpool are favourites to offer their favourite son a place on the bench, but Kop icon Hamann is adamant Jurgen Klopp doesn’t need Gerrard’s help after transforming the atmosphere at Anfield.
Hamann told the : “Liverpool are having plenty of success at the moment and although there’s probably a role for Steven Gerrard somewhere, I don’t feel there is an immediate need to implement him into the club right now.
“Gerrard had the talent and quality to change games and perform when the chips were down, and that’s what he’s all about.
“His experience is second-to-none. He has probably turned more games around in the last 10 years than any other player. It stands him in good stead, but being a top player doesn’t automatically mean you will be a top manager.

“He needs to see what he wants to do and make a decision over the next few months. If he does go into manging or coaching I wouldn’t be surprised if he did perform at the very best level and become one of the best.
“There will be plenty of clubs vying for Steven Gerrard’s services, and there is no reason to believe he can’t be a very good coach or manager.
