Leicester stars Christian Fuchs and Marc Albrighton dreaming of Real Madrid mega clash

Foxes duo want to face 11 times Champions League winners after sealing spot in the knockouts

LEICESTER CITY’S G-Force are spoiling for the ultimate Champions League adrenaline rush – with 11 times holders Real Madrid top of their wish list.

Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes romped to Group G glory, courtesy of their 2-1 win over Club Brugge – the first Champions League rookies to top their group since Malaga in 2012.

Now, having proved they are a cut above Brugge, FC Copenhagen and Port, Christian Fuchs and Marc Albrighton are aiming for the stars with Zinedine Zidane’s Galactico’s their No.1 target in the last 16.

The current holders may boast their star-studded BBC frontline of Bale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo but Real currently trail two points behind Borussia Dortmund in Group H.

Nothing less than victory over Dortmund in their final group game at the Bernabeu will prevent Zidane’s side finishing runners’ up behind the German giants – setting up the mouth-watering prospect of Ranieri’s men landing a last-16 tie against the club who claim to be the biggest on the planet!

However Fuchs believes the bigger they are the harder they fall and fancies the Foxes chances of rivalling last season’s 5,000-1 title triumph.

“We showed last season we were able to do great things. Why not also in the Champions’ League?

“Facing a massive club like Real Madrid – it’s just like winning the Premier League. We are good at being the underdogs and giving our best. I honestly don't care who we get.

“We are really happy playing with Leicester in the Champions League. It makes us proud. Once you are in the knock-out stage anything is possible.

“We believe in ourselves and want to win every game, whether it’s Middlesbrough or Real Madrid. If it works out it is another thing but we will give everything for that.”

Marc Albrighton, who’s fancy footwork earned Leicester a penalty against Brugge, is also keen to test himself against the cream of world football.

He accepts this season could be the Foxes one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a lasting impression on club football’s biggest stage – and there isn’t many better ways to do it than beating Real’s stellar squad.

“They’re all big boys but yes, if you get one of the top teams like Real Madrid over two legs it would be fantastic,” said Albrighton.

“To go to the Bernabeu and for them to come here to the King Power, the occasion would be immense.

“The thing is now we’re here it feels the same as last season going into those last few games.

“Obviously second-place in the Premier League would have been an unbelievable achievement for Leicester. But once we were actually there, pushing for the title, we wanted to keep going and achieve the ultimate.

“That’s what we want to do here. We want to enjoy the occasions but we also want to win and progress even further.

Some of us might not get the opportunity to play in this competition ever again and we want to make the most of it this year, and play as many games as possible.

“Obviously playing a Real Madrid at this stage or a Barcelona maybe would be special. But let’s be honest, anyone would be great at this stage.

“Winning the group was fantastic. Our aim was to progress in the competition - then to top the group - and we’ve managed to do that with a game to spare. We have gone one better.

“We hope that we can push on and cause another upset in the knock-out stages. We’ve not had a chance to have too much of a look at who we might face but come the draw we will be excited.”
