Unsworth, a veteran of over 300 Toffees appearances, said of the event: “Having worked closely with Everton in the Community over the years I am well aware of the fantastic work that we do in supporting vulnerable and underprivileged people across Liverpool.

“Looking after the homeless is the right thing to do. Everyone should have a roof over their heads and everyone should have the right opportunities available to them when they are struggling.

“In my role and in their role as an aspiring Under-23 player, we have a responsibility to reach out and help those in need.”

Royle, who scored 119 goals for Everton and also guided them to an FA Cup triumph over Manchester United in 1995 as manager will tell tales from his footballing days at the club.

Denise Barrett-Baxendale, the EitC executive chair will detail the objective of the charity and their plans going forward.

Current captain of the Under-23 squad Jonjoe Kenny, is relishing the chance to sleep outside, and believes his team-mates will brave the cold wind blowing in from the River Mersey.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to it, everyone deserves a chance in life and at times we don’t realise just how lucky we are so it’ll be great for us to get involved and give back.

“I think there might be a few lads who might get a bit cold on the night but it’s all for a great cause so we will give it a good go!”
