STEVEN GERRARD is set to turn down the offer of becoming MK Dons boss.

Liverpool legend Gerro, 36, met the League One club for talks over the last few days and he did give the job serious consideration.

But sources close to Gerrard insist he is unlikely to make that his first managerial role as the timing is not right.

The Kop idol left LA Galaxy after an 18-month stint in the MLS and he plans to take some time before deciding on his next move

He knows there is a position waiting for him at Anfield when the time is right.

That will almost certainly be combining coaching the academy youngsters with an ambassadorial role.

But the Reds’ hectic schedule means that is not likely to be discussed in detail until after Christmas.
