But Barcelona's superstar striker Lionel Messi is expected to have recovered from illness in time for the clash against the Scottish side in Glasgow.

The Argentinian footballer was forced to pull out ahead of the Catalan side's game against Malaga yesterday (Saturday).

And that, coupled with the fact that fellow star striker Luis Suarez was suspended, saw Barca labour to a 0-0 Nou Camp draw against nine-man Malaga.

It was clear both players were badly missed in La Liga's shock result of the weekend.

Messi was reportedly to have suffered from sickness and vomiting on the day of the game, leaving boss Luis Enrique no option but to press on without his star man.

But Messi is expected to be fully recovered for the trip to Scotland on Wednesday for round five of the Champions League.

The little magician ran riot in the first meeting between the sides in Champions League Group D on September 16.

Messi scored a hat-trick and bagged an assist as the Spanish side walloped Celtic 7-0.

So the news of his impeding return will be met with dismay by fans of the Parkhead club.
