MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to rival neighbours Man City for Bayern Munich defender David Alaba.
And Jose Mourinho hopes to tempt the Austrian to pick Old Trafford by also bringing in international team-mate Julian Baumgartlinger.
SunSport revealed last month that City officials held talks with Alaba’s representatives over a blockbuster £40million summer move.

But, according to the , Mourinho is also keen – and personally watched the left-back, and midfielder Baumgartlinger, twice on Austria duty last week.
The Special One is desperate for reinforcements in the position after being unimpressed by Luke Shaw since taking over in the summer.

Alaba, 24, is one of the most highly-rated defenders in world football and is also being tracked by Real Madrid.

Baumgartlinger only joined Bayer Leverkusen from Mainz in the summer in a £3.5m move.
But the promise of a quick profit on the 29-year-old means the Bundesliga side will be willing to do business.
