Wayne Rooney almost punched by wedding guest after drunk England captain was ‘getting handy’ with his wife

A WEDDING guest threatened to knock out sozzled England star Wayne Rooney, it was claimed.

He was said to have taken exception to Rooney, 31, “getting handy” with his wife at the do in the England team hotel as fresh details emerged of his boozy antics.

The £300,000-a-week star is thought to have been drinking all day last Saturday — even boozing on the golf course at the posh Grove hotel in Watford.

He and team-mate Phil Jagielka, 34, then had a few at the bar in the evening before hotel wedding guests invited them over.

FA officials decided to shepherd the pair away around 11pm but they later returned to the wedding, where Rooney downed red wine while shouting obscenities at the DJ.

He is also said to have chatted for hours with a couple of female guests and later became “touchy-feely” with several others while “bumbling” around.

At 5am Rooney — watched by wife Coleen at yesterday’s game at Old Trafford against Arsenal — was seen getting close to a woman said to be around 45-years-old.

One witness told The Sun on Sunday: “He was shuffling around looking like Jack Nicholson from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. He was all over the place getting handy with the women who all had their husbands there.  It was bizarre, they were almost letting him get away with it as it’s Wayne Rooney. But one bloke threatened to knock him out.”

At one point he told the DJ to “turn the f*****g music up!”. He was also heard yelling “shut the f*** up” at guests as he listened to music on a phone.

The Man United ace had earlier surprised guests by playing the piano — but a second attempt ended in embarrassment.  A guest said: “He got back on around 4.30am and collapsed on the keys. His head was resting on them. A woman picked him up.”

The FA have now banned nights out on international duty

Guests had asked Jagielka to help but he is said to have answered: “No, f*** Wayne, he’s paid more than me and is big enough and ugly enough to look after himself.”

An FA staff member who also joined the pair said: “He got himself into that mess, he can get himself out of it.”

After Rooney left, Everton star Jagielka carried on chatting to women including the bride. He was heard asking her at 6am: “What are you up to now?” while her hubby lay drunk in bed.  She was eventually taken up to the bridal suite by pals.

Jagielka also swapped his top with one guest and even tried to take his trousers off.

The England team had been due to report back for training on Sunday morning after beating Scotland 3-0 on Friday night.

However, Rooney was ruled out of Tuesday’s friendly against Spain with a knee injury. The FA has since banned players from nights out on international duty.

The United forward has broken his silence over his booze shame slamming media coverage of it “disgraceful”.

He said: “What’s been going on is disgraceful. It shows a lack of respect and I think enough is enough.

“I’m proud to play for my country and I’m proud of my achievements. It’s not finished yet.”

The Sun also revealed this week that Three Lions stars Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana eyed up dancers at a strip club while on England duty.

Their night out last Saturday was less than 48 hours before Henderson, 26, skippered the national side against Spain.
