Wayne Rooney: Manchester United star captain insists England career is ‘not finished yet’ after night of shame
WAYNE ROONEY broke his silence on his England booze shame insisting his international career is not over.
The Three Lions skipper was forced to apologise for his conduct after being snapped drinking until 5am during last weekend’s international break.
But Rooney hit back: “What’s been going on is disgraceful. It shows a lack of respect and I think enough is enough.
“I’m proud to play for my country and I’m proud of my achievements. It’s not finished yet.”
Rooney, 31, has won 119 caps — six short of Peter Shilton’s record.
But his international future has been questioned by many since the controversy over a drinking session at The Grove Hotel that went on until; the early hours of Sunday.

Rooney was dropped to the bench by Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho for Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Arsenal.
But the star, 31, who has won 119 caps — six short of Peter Shilton’s record — Rooney speaking publicly for the first time since his late night drinking controversy, insists the incident does not mark the beginning of the end of his England career.
The Sun also revealed this week that Three Lions stars Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana eyed up dancers at a strip club while on England duty.
Their night out last Saturday was less than 48 hours before Henderson, 26, skippered the national side against Spain.
Mourinho claims Manchester United are the “unluckiest” team in the Premier League.
The Special One was denied his first league win at Old Trafford since September 24 when Olivier Giroud equalised for Arsenal in the 89th minute.
Mourinho – who later joked that Giroud’s goal felt like Wenger had “beaten him for the first time” in the Premier League – claims United should be six points better off.
He said: “We are the unlucky team in the Premier League. We should have beaten Burnley, Stoke, Arsenal – we should have six points more, and be close to the top of the league.
“We have a lot of work to do. We have lots of kids, we also know that we have some amazing players.
“How long has Wenger been with this team, how long has Mauricio Pochettino been with Tottenham, how long has Klopp been with Liverpool?
“We had amazing control of a team that is very good, a team that normally produces attacking football.
“We did not see amazing players. We did not see them. So completely under control.
“When we lose the ball our reaction to that moment was amazingly good, so intense that we did not give them chances.
“We should have won the game comfortably. We have amazing fans. We are unlucky but we have are lucky with the fans we have.
“The players know, the board know, the owners, the public know, the United fans know what is happening.”
