Philippe Coutinho recreates Dennis Bergkamp’s Premier League goal against Newcastle but needs three attempts
Brazilian proves Arsenal striker's turn-and-finish at Newcastle in 2002 is so difficult to match but so magical to watch
PHILIPPE COUTINHO has recreated one of the greatest goals in Premier League history
The Liverpool playmaker took three attempts to copy Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp's legendary opener at Newcastle in March 2002.
Coutinho recruited his Anfield team-mates when BT Sport gave him a maximum of four efforts at reproducing one of the best ever turn-and-shoot strikes in modern-day football.
And the experience proved above all that Bergkamp's classic strike is so difficult to match and so magical to watch.
First Coutinho studied the Holland striker's perfect marriage of team play, technique and individual brilliance.
Bergkamp was one of the first players involved in a pitch-length move at St James' Park 14 years ago that ended with Robert Pires threading the ball back into his feet.
The former Ajax hero flicked it left-footed around the outside of Nikos Dabizas - while Bergkamp himself spun past the defender on the inside. He then opened up his body to sidefoot into the far corner past Shay Given.
Coutinho roped in James Milner to play the role of dumbfounded Dabizas.
And you can see the video to see just how testing it is - even for a world-class talent on a training ground - to repeat the rhythm and touch of Bergkamp's finish.
Coutinho finally pulled it off - then suggested YOU have a try!
