The veteran midfielder had only played once under the Spaniard, a Champions League win over Steaua Bucharest in August after his agent accused Guardiola of "humiliating" him.

But Toure's return to first team action comes after he apologised to Guardiola for "misunderstandings of the past."

Toure's finish didn't look like a player who was featuring in his first league clash this season.

He played a neat one-two with Nolito on the edge of the box before lashing the ball into the roof of the net leaving the keeper with no chance.

And as expected, Twitter went into meltdown.

It was Toure's first Premier League goal since March and his first away from home since January.

His goal was enough to send Guardiola's side into the interval with a 1-0 lead.
