Memphis Depay: Struggling Manchester United winger has failed to settle because he misses his mum

Former PSV Eindhoven boss Fred Rutten claims Depay is very close to his mother and has struggled to cope alone

MEMPHIS DEPAY has struggled to settle at Manchester United because he misses his mum.

That’s according to old boss Fred Rutten, who managed Depay at PSV and claims the winger will eventually find his feet at Old Trafford.

Depay has struggled to find his feet in Manchester after joining in 2015, with the former Dutch Player of the Year making just four league appearances under Jose Mourinho this season.

Depay also failed to impress with Louis van Gaal after finishing top scorer in the Eredivisie, and he now looks set to leave in January.

Everton have made no secret of their interest, with a number of top European sides also keeping tabs.

“But he’s still young and I think he can developer to be a big player – young players take time to develop.

“Twenty years ago, they had much more time to impress; now they have to be there.
