Gareth Southgate set to land four-year deal to become full-time England manager
But at £1.5million a year the former Under-21s boss will earn half as much as predecessors Sam Allardyce and Roy Hodgson
GARETH SOUTHGATE can expect to be confirmed as England’s full-time manager before the end of the month.
Backed by FA chief exectutive Martin Glenn who says the former Middlesbrough boss is a "really strong" candidate, Southgate is set to be offered a four-year contract.
Expect formal discussions to start early next week.

Southgate, 46, ended his four-match interim reign unbeaten with a 2-2 draw against Spain on Tuesday.
"Clearly, his candidacy has become much stronger," said Glenn. "We just need to weigh up the facts and take time to make the right decision."
The former Under-21s coach also has also enjoyed victories against Malta and Scotland and a goalless draw in Slovenia after stepping into the breach following the parting of the ways with San Allardyce, who left his post after being involved in a newspaper sting.
Added Glenn: "His candidacy is not just based on one or two matches, but because of what we've seen over the last couple of years.
"He's got renewed confidence and is a different manager to what he was two years ago. So it is not all about assessing him on a few games, you have got to see it more in the round."
The panel is expected to meet formally for the first time before the weekend.
Southgate is set to be joined on the permanent staff by his assistant from the junior set-up, Chelsea first-team coach Steve Holland who could combine his duties with those at Stamford Bridge.
