Lionel Messi treated by doctors after falling sick on plane as he jets out for Argentina’s crunch World Cup qualifier with Colombia
Even the world's greatest player can suffer travel illness - but the Barcelona legend should be fine for Wednesday's big game
LIONEL MESSI gave Argentina a scare after falling sick on the plane to Wednesday's vital World Cup qualifier in Columbia.
The Barcelona legend, 29, quickly recovered after being treated by doctors. He is tipped to be totally fit against a home side who are third in the South American qualifying group - three places above the struggling Argentines.
Messi and Co were outclassed 3-0 by group leaders Brazil last Thursday.
Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho and Messi's Barca teammate Neymar hit stylish first half goals.
Then Paulinho's clincher left Argentina one point and two places below the automatic qualification spots.
Each of the 10 teams has played 11 of their 18 games.
So a buzzing Messi is sure to be essential for the rest of the campaign.
