Team news
Joe Gomez has stepped up his training with a view to making his first Reds appearance for more than a year.
Klopp has said of his rehab: "It's a long way. He was injured for a long time and now it is a long way back, so there is no rush in it.
"He is still a young boy so we can give him time to come back in the right moment."
Saints could welcome back Shane Long, Cedric Soares, Fraser Forster and Matt Targett.
Stats
- Southampton ended a run of four Premier League games without beating Liverpool with their 3-2 victory over the Reds in March (D1 L3).
- However, Liverpool did beat the Saints at St Mary’s last season in the League Cup 6-1. Divock Origi scored a hat-trick in that match, with Daniel Sturridge also scoring twice.
