CHED EVANS received a standing ovation as he played against Sheffield United for the first time since leaving the club in 2012.
It was not a happy reunion for the Welshman as Chesterfield fell to bits, losing 4-1.
The Blades released Evans after he was convicted of rape and sentenced to five years in prison as his career in the game looked over.
However, he signed for Chesterfield in the summer as he fought the conviction - it was quashed and he was found not guilty in a retrial last month.
Chesterfield have been in awful form and this result was the clubs seventh straight defeat after a great start to the game turned sour after the break.
Evans made the assist for his teams goal after just two minutes setting up Jon Nolan who scored the opener to stun Sheffield United.
Kieron Freeman levelled things up for Sheffield with a header and they were in front when John Fleck scored from long range.
