Jose Mourinho: Didier Drogba backs under-pressure Manchester United boss, claiming: He’s not a has-been

Ivorian forward, who played under the Special One at Chelsea, has lent his support to under-pressure Old Trafford chief

DIDIER DROGBA has lent his backing to under-pressure Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, saying: He's no has-been.

The Special One, 53, has watched his United outfit slide dramatically following a strong start to the season.

With results taking a sharp downward turn - taking fewer points at this stage than much-criticised duo David Moyes and Louis van Gaal - many people have been questioning whether Mourinho still has the capability to lead a top Premier League club.

However, Drogba - who played under Mourinho at Chelsea - is adamant the Portuguese chief is the right man for the job; he just needs time.

“I think that it’s a very big challenge for him. I think he has to take some time to build a team.”

Mourinho was the man responsible for bringing Drogba to England - all the way back in 2004 at Chelsea.

The Ivorian spent eight seasons at Stamford Bridge, netting 100 Premier League goals, before he returned for a one-season stint in the title-winning 2014-15 campaign.

So far this term, United have been very up and down, winning their first three league games - before failing to win another game for a month.

Mourinho's men currently sit sixth in the Premier League, eight points of leaders Liverpool and six points off the Champions League places.
