Russell Crowe tells Leeds United to ‘take a look’ at Robert Lewandowski after Polish striker is named Bundesliga Player of the Month for October
ACTOR Russell Crowe has cheekily advised Leeds United to make a move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Oscar-winning star, best known for his portrayal of Maximus in Gladiator, wrote a Twitter message to the official Leeds account and the player, asking them to “have a good look” at the Poland international.
This came after the prolific Lewandowski won the Bundesliga player of the month award for October. He has scored 14 goals in 16 Bayern matches this season, including seven in 10 Bundesliga appearances and four in four Champions League games.

Crowe, who has over two million Twitter followers, took to his personal account on the social media site to draw Leeds’ attention to the exploits of Lewandowski.
The official Leeds United account issued a cheeky response of their own to Crowe, thanking him for “great scouting work” but assuring Bayern that the prolific Pole was not a target, while insisting that “we have Chris Wood”.
The New Zealand international Wood has scored 11 goals in 19 Leeds matches this season, including an impressive eight in 16 Championship appearances propelling the club to sixth in the league.
Wood’s form seems to be on the Bundesliga’s radar, with their official Twitter account also suggesting that they may recommended the New Zealand striker to Bayern, in a humorous social media exchange.
Crowe is a lifelong Leeds fan since the 1970s, and last year was even linked with a move to buy the club.He currently owns the Australian rugby league side South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Wood is set to be next in action for Leeds in the sell-out game with Newcastle United at Elland Road on November 20.
It remains to be seen whether any Bundesliga representatives will be in the crowd. If they can get a ticket that is!
