US President-elect Donald Trump could be toasting his election victory at IBROX had he pushed forward with plans to buy Rangers four years ago

HE has just been elected the 45th President of the United States of America - but Donald Trump could have been Rangers owner four years ago.

The controversial billionaire businessman considered a swoop for the Ibrox club in 2012 before Craig Whyte took over and plunged them into administration and liquidation.

It is believed Trump, who has Scottish roots, decided against the takeover after gauging the financial risk.
