The then Rangers midfielder scored his greatest, and arguably the best-ever, England goal against Scotland at Euro ’96.

Gascoigne chipped the ball over the head of defender Colin Hendry on the edge of the box before drilling a powerful right-footed volley past Andy Goram to secure a 2-0 victory.

His celebration was equally as good – laying down on the floor to get drink sprayed into his mouth by delighted team-mates to recreate the dentist chair incident.

Prior to the tournament, the England squad had been snapped in a bar playing a drinking game called the 'Dentist's Chair'.

Now with just 48 hours to go until the mouthwatering showdown, Gazza took to Twitter to poke a bit of fun at Scotland and the man he embarrassed through his silky skills.

He wrote: “Hi hope alls well I’m looking forward 2 the match sorry2the scots and to Colin Henry for me it was play ground stuff.”
