Wayne Rooney, Sergio Aguero… James Morrison? Your Premier League club’s all-time top scorer in the current squad of players may surprise you
Alexis Sanchez doesn't make the grade as Arsenal's top goal-getter, while Diego Costa isn't the No1 for Chelsea either
WHEN you think of your Premier League club's top goalscorer in the current squad, you'd probably go for Wayne Rooney at Manchester United, Sergio Aguero at Manchester City...
...And you'd be right. What about Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal? Diego Costa at Chelsea, too?
Actually, those two do NOT top the charts for their club.
Keep up to date with ALL the latest football news, gossip and rumours.
Eden Hazard is in fact the Blues' leading scorer in the current crop of players with 48 goal, while Theo Walcott holds the record for Arsenal with 60.
Costa and Sanchez have just 41 and 35, respectively.
In fact, there are some interesting entries when it comes to each Premier League club's top all-time goal-getter still in the current ranks.
Mark Noble is West Ham's leading marksman with 30, while Jason Puncheon is Crystal Palace's biggest goal-threat with a mere 15.
Elsewhere, at clubs including Bournemouth, Watford and Stoke, the all-time leading Premier League goalscorer, full-stop, is currently still in the ranks.
Joshua King and Callum Wilson are the Cherries' leading men with eight, while Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney lead the Hornets' all-time hitmen with 16.
Jonathan Walters has a team-leading 36 for the Potters.
However, for most clubs, it's a case of the team's current leading scorer chasing the all-time history maker.
For instance, Walcott at the Gunners is a whopping 115 behind Thierry Henry - whose 175 Prem strikes look set to stay top in north London for some time.
Hazard is a whopping 99 behind Frank Lampard at Chelsea, while Harry Kane is 45 goals off Teddy Sheringham's Tottenham-leading 97 strikes.
Meanwhile Daniel Sturridge's 43 goals for Liverpool may be top of all current players, but in terms of all-time, it's 85 behind Robbie Fowler's 128 strikes.
Despite the large volume of stragglers, there are some players set to break the record very soon.
For example, Leicester's Jamie Vardy currently has 31 Premier League goals after an astonishing 2015-16 season at Leicester.
The England forward is just two goals shy of Emile Heskey and Muzzy Izzet's record-setting 33 goals.
James Morrison is just six behind Peter Odemwingie's 30 for West Brom, while Ashley Barnes is set to break Danny Ings' Burnley record and Abel Hernandez is just seven off Nikica Jelavic's Hull tally.
