Beijing Guoan chief reveals his attempts to lure the England captain to the Far East prior to the Premier League season
WAYNE ROONEY rejected a move to the Chinese Super League last summer.
The striker was approached by Beijing Guoan, who even held talks with his agent Paul Stretford.
That is the claim made by the club’s honorary chairman.

Luo Ning told a Beijing radio station: "We indeed made an approach for Rooney at the beginning of the season but he's informed us that he wants to stay in Manchester United.
"Rooney says he'll keep playing in the Premier League as long as his health allows. We even met with his agent."
Beijing Guoan approached Rooney, who earns around £300k a week and is under contract at Old Trafford until 2019, before the start of the current season but their advances were quickly rejected by the star.
The United skipper has lost his place recently under Jose Mourinho after a string of ineffective performances.
He scored for the first time since the opening day of the season in the Europa League clash at Fenerbahce last week before producing his best display of the season in the 3-1 victory at Swansea on Sunday.
The 31-year-old is currently on international duty with England, where he is expected to captain his country in Friday's World Cup qualifier against Scotland at Wembley.
