Blues keeper speaks of his affinity for life in the Spanish capital and a possible return
THIBAUT COURTOIS has revealed he still misses Madrid and wants to return there one day - but insisted he is more than happy at Chelsea for now.
The Blues' keeper enjoyed a highly successful loan spell at Atletico between 2011 and 2014 and won a La Liga title, Europa League, Uefa Super Cup and Copa del Rey as well as finishing with a Champions League runners-up medal under Diego Simeone.
And Courtois, 24, told Spanish radio station last night: “Perhaps one day I can return, who knows?
"But right now I’m very happy at Chelsea. I wish Atletico the best.
"I miss Madrid, I left many friends there, but I knew my future was in England.
“Since I left Atletico, I have improved my game with my feet considerably and I have matured a lot as a person.

"The team is doing well right now, I want to win the title with Chelsea.”
Belgium international Courtois was linked with a move to Atletico's city rivals Real Madrid recently.
But the former Genk star told separate Spanish radio station : “I never had anything with Real Madrid.
"I did not see anything published, but I never had any contact with Real Madrid.
"I am happy at Chelsea. Everything is going very well — it is a great club.
"There is no reason not to be happy at Chelsea.
"You never know what will happen in the future, but at the moment I am very well, in a very good atmosphere.”
Courtois remains a key player for Chelsea under boss Antonio Conte.
The Blues are second in the table, one point behind leaders Liverpool after 11 games.
He is currently on international duty with the Red Devils, who face Netherlands in a friendly tomorrow and Estonia in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
