England squad: Aaron Cresswell receives first Three Lions call-up as cover for struggling left-back Danny Rose

AARON CRESSWELL has received his first England call-up.

West Ham’s left-back will link up with the rest of Gareth Southgate’s squad at St George’s Park ahead of Friday’s clash with Scotland.

Cresswell has been drafted in as a precaution as Danny Rose is struggling with an injury but has not yet been sent home.

Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs failed to make the squad due to a shoulder injury but Ryan Bertrand is already included.

Hammers star Cresswell missed the first two months of the season with a knee injury but is proving to be one of the team’s key players.

England under-21 keeper Jordan Pickford has also come into the squad due to a withdrawal of Fraser Forster while Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater is also crocked.

Tottenham's Kyle Walker also picked up a knock in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal but expects to be fit for the game at Wembley.

Reflecting on his call-up, Cresswell beamed: "I am obviously delighted to receive a call-up and it’s a very proud moment for me and my family. It is every boy's dream to play for their country and I am looking forward to the next two weeks.

"I just want to enjoy the experience and do my best in training and, if I can do that, then I hope I can achieve my dream of pulling on an England shirt, which is what I've wanted to do ever since I started playing football as a little kid in Liverpool.

“My main focus has always been on playing for West Ham and doing the best I can for my Club. As long as I was giving 100 per cent, that's all I could do.

"I haven't played alongside any of the other lads in the squad, but of course I have played against them all in the Premier League and they are top players. I am sure the training is going to be at a real high tempo and I can't wait to be part of it."
