Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon makes his 600th Serie A appearance as he closes down on Paolo Maldini’s record
The Italian goalkeeper becomes just the fourth person to play 600 games in the Italian top flight
JUVENTUS goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has reached a landmark of 600 Serie A appearances, as he helped his side beat Chievo 2-1.
The 38-year-old becomes the fourth player to join the 600 club, joining the likes of Paolo Maldini, Francesco Totti and Javier Zanetti.
He now has the ex-Ac Milan left-back's league record in sight, who currently has 647 appearances to his name.

Former Inter Milan and Argentina fan favourite Zanetti sits in second spot playing 615 games, whereas current Roma hero Totti holds 607 appearances, and is likely to finish the season above the San Siro star.
Buffon could have been above both those players had he chosen to not stay with the 'Old Lady' after they were demoted to Serie B after the Italian football scandal.

He started off his career with Parma, making his debut at just 17 years of age against AC Milan on November 19 1995.
Whilst with Parma, he made 168 league appearances before moving to Turin in a world record transfer for a 'keeper in 2001 at £33 million.
On Wednesday night, he made his 100th Champions League appearance as Juventus could only draw at home against French side Lyon in matchweek four.
His ever impressing stats don't stop there, as back in September he overtook Gianluca Pagliuca as becoming Serie A's record appearance holder for a shot-stopper. surpassing his 592 games.
Another record the legendary Italian boasts is that he holds a league high of not conceding in 973 minutes, a run that stretched from January to March earlier on this year.
Buffon has said that he will eventually retire from all forms of football after the 2018 World Cup when he will be 40 years of age.
