Manchester City heroes both old and new do battle with each other…in a snowball fight

Festive face-off sees manager Pep Guardiola referee star-studded tussle to begin the countdown to Christmas

MANCHESTER CITY have kicked off the Christmas celebrations - with a snowball fight refereed by boss Pep Guardiola.

City's seasonal photo and video features stars and legends from across the club enjoying a festive face-off in the snow.

Representing team #CitySanta are star midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, ladies' team Steph Houghton, ex-wing maestro Mike Summerbee and keeper Willy Caballero, whilst club captain Vincent Kompany, ladies' striker Toni Duggan, ex-forward Paul Dickov and defender Angelino make up team #CityElf.

Said Kompany, the men’s first team captain and lead for team #CitySanta, is also going for gold in the inaugural festive face off:

Houghton said: “This is such an exciting initiative we are thrilled to be a part of.

"It combines the fun of the Christmas season with the opportunity to make a difference in the local community. Come on City Elves, let’s win this!”

Fans can get involved by voting for their favourite side and taking part in a range of festive competitions both online and at the Etihad Stadium on a matchday.

The winning team will be announced at 10:00am on Christmas Eve and everyone who has voted for that team will be entered into a prize draw to present the champions with the inaugural Manchester City Christmas trophy.

The Christmas jumpers worn by each team are available online and at all official Manchester City Stores. As part of this year’s Cityzens Giving campaign, City will donate an additional £5 for every jumper sold to local community football projects in Manchester, run by City in the Community, who this year celebrate 30 years of empowering lives through football.

To buy your Christmas jumper  visit or one of the Manchester City Stores at the Etihad Stadium and on Market Street in Manchester city centre.

From November 10, Manchester City’s festival line will also be on sale from the Club’s pop up store at the annual Manchester Christmas Markets.
