Manchester United transfer news: Memphis Depay urged to quit Old Trafford by Fenerbahce boss Dick Advocaat
Dutch winger has been left out of tonight's squad for Europa League clash and could be set for move away in January
MEMPHIS DEPAY has been urged to quit Manchester United for the sake of his career by Fenerbahce boss Dick Advocaat.
The Red Devils are in Turkey tonight for a crunch Europa League clash, but Depay has been left home by Jose Mourinho.
The Netherlands international has been used sparingly this season and also failed to make an impact under Louis van Gaal.
United are plotting to offload Depay in January, with European giants AC Milan, Roma and Wolfsburg all interested.
Depay will now miss out on a reunion with Advocaat after the pair worked together at PSV Eindhoven for a season.
But the ex-Sunderland gaffer has still found time to warn the winger he would better off leaving Old Trafford if he continues to sit on the bench and rot.
Advocaat said: “The potential is there for him to be a good player. You cannot lose that, he has the quality to be a top player.
“But the problem for him is that there are so many qualities in that squad, so for himself it is important to start playing regularly at the age he is at. Otherwise, maybe he has to find another solution because he is too good to sit on the bench.
“I still believe in him. He has the right mentality, the right character to play for United, but there are so many options there. Regular playing time will help his progression.”
