ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS is set to become the next manager of Chinese big-spenders Shanghai SIPG with Sven Goran Eriksson facing the chop.

Current Shanghai chief Sven-Goran Eriksson will be given the boot in the next 48 hours after finishing third in the Chinese Super League behind fierce rivals Jiangsu and Gunagzhou Evergrande.

And h claims Villas-Boas has been chosen as the man to spearhead a title challenge next season following the £49.5million capture of Hulk over the summer.

Villas-Boas is also believed to be a contender for the Inter Milan job after Frank De Boer was sacked this week, although Guus Hiddink is favourite to take charge at the San Siro on a temporary basis.

The Portuguese tactician has also been linked with the vacant hotseat at Wolfsburg and tickled the fancy of Marseille before they opted for Rudi Garcia.

AVB remains best known for his two spells in the Premier League with Chelsea and Spurs after some success with Porto.

Villas-Boas last less than a season at Stamford Bridge after falling out with a number of senior players, and recently admitted he was completely out of his depth.

Chelsea went on to win the Champions League with Roberto Di Matteo that season, and things were only marginally better during his 18 months in north London.

Gareth Bale helped Spurs set a new club record in AVB’s first season, but the boss failed to spend wisely after selling his key man to Real Madrid and was axed mid-way through the next campaign.
