Andy Carroll injury: West Ham striker set to return against Tottenham for November 19 derby

ANDY CARROLL is set to finally make his comeback for the explosive derby clash with Tottenham.

The Hammers striker has been crocked with a knee injury and his return to action has been delayed.

But co-owner David Gold expects him back after the international break along with Diafra Sakho and summer signing Arthur Masuaku.

Gold wrote on Twitter: “Arthur Masuaku, Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll are all progressing well and should be available after the international break.”

Carroll’s return will have Slaven Bilic breathing a huge sigh of relief, with the Hammers boss admitting recently he cannot wait for the 27-year-old to return to action.

Michail Antonio has moved from the wing and played up front on his own in West Ham’s last games – and Bilic would like more options in attack.

Carroll picked up the knee problem in the Europa League clash with Romanian side Astra Giurgiu in August.

He was expected to be out for six weeks at the time but has been crocked for another two months.

Bilic said: “It was a very strange injury. He stayed on the pitch for the whole game and I didn’t even notice he got injured until the end of the game or the next day, when we did all the scans.

“Originally it was four to six weeks – and we were fuming about it, it was a shocking prognosis – but now it’s way longer than that so all that I can say is he’s working really hard, he’s progressing, but its slower than we expected.”
