FRANK DE BOER has been sacked by Inter Milan after just 14 games in charge.
A summer of heavy spending was expected to bring with it a title challenge this season.
However, the Nerazzurri have lost five Serie A games — including Sunday's 1-0 reverse at Sampdoria — and are on the brink of elimination from the Europa League after two defeats from three games.

De Boer took to Instagram to express his disappointing at being dismissed.
He wrote: "It's a shame it's finished like this.
"In order to take this project forward, I needed more time. I want to thank all the fans for the support you gave me in these few months."
Youth team coach, Stefano Vecchi, has taken Inter training — with former Swansea boss, Francesco Guidolin among the candidates to replace De Boer.
However, former Lazio boss, Stefano Pioli is expected to be named as full-time boss as they await the availability of No.1 target, Diego Simeone.
De Boer became one of the most sought-after coaches in Europe after winning four successive Eredivisie titles with Ajax.
He stepped down after conceding the crown to PSV Eindhoven on a dramatic final day of the season — and his arrival was seen as the catalyst for a new dawn at the club.
Chasing a first Serie A title since 2010, the club's new ambitious owners spent big in the summer.
