MARCO VERRATTI’S agent has revealed the midfielder could be on the verge of leaving Paris Saint-Germain, following recent criticism in the local press.

Neither Donato Di Campli nor the player himself were best pleased after the Italian was substituted on 60 minutes of the 1-0 win at Lille.

Since Verratti’s return from an injury which ruled him out of Euro 2016, he has struggled to recapture his best form — leading to criticism from members of the French press.

And, stealing a move from PSG’s former icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Di Campli insisted they should “thank God” that the 23-year-old plays in Paris and that, if they don’t

Speaking to Italian TV channel, , he said: “I am shocked to read certain articles.

“The French journalists should feel honoured by the fact Marco plays in Paris.

“They should thank God. If they continue in this manner, it could be that the moment to leave has arrived.

“And I am not just referring to the printed press. There are several others who don’t understand football and criticise.”

It is understood Inter have made the first move to secure Verratti’s signature, having met Di Campli to discuss terms over a deal worth £105,000-a-week.

The Italian’s former manager at PSG, Laurent Blanc, is expected replace the under-fire Frank de Boer as manager of the Nerazzuri.

And the Frenchman is likely to try and push through a move for Verratti.
