Alexis Sanchez goal: Arsenal opener against Sunderland came after Premier League-high 22 passes

ARSENAL truly are the pass masters of the Premier League.

The Gunners made a whopping 22 passes before Alexis Sanchez headed home Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain’s sublime cross for the opener in the 4-1 win against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light today.

And almost every single player played a part in the build-up.

That is the most amount of passes before a goal in the Premier League this season – overtaking Romelu Lukaku’s effort against, er……. Sunderland!

Philippe Coutinho’s strike against Arsenal in August is not far behind with 19 passes, while Juan Mata’s goal v Leicester last month came after 18 passes.

But this move – capped off by Sanchez’s piece of brilliance – brought back memories of Esteban Cambiasso’s wonder strike for Argentina at the 2006 World Cup.

Cambiasso’s might be regarded as one of the greatest goals ever scored, and there were only three more passes for that goal than the one witnessed in the North East this afternoon.

Everything Gunners star Sanchez touches at the moment seems to turn to gold.

As well as capping off a wonderful team move for the opener, the little Chilean scored again after Olivier Giroud hit a brace.

And he has now been involved eight goals in his last eight games for his side, with five goals himself and another three assists for his team-mates
