Chelsea fan reportedly cut open after coin is thrown by West Ham fans

A visiting Blues supporter takes to Twitter to show wound after being struck inside the London Stadium

TROUBLE has reportedly flared inside West Ham's London Stadium after a Chelsea fan claimed to have been struck by a coin.

The visiting Blues supporter tweeted an image out from the away end to the Hammers official Twitter page of the open wound on his head.

Along with the image, he wrote: "Have a word with your support, ffc. You only scored a goal."

He accompanied the message with #cointhrowing.

Fears were rife before the game of trouble between the rival fans at the EFL Cup clash.

It was Chelsea's first visit to West Ham's new home, and a number of safety measures were put in place to avoid clashes between the two sets of supporters.

Alcohol was banned outside the ground before kick-off, with segregation to take place after full time to keep the visitors away from the hosts.
