Argentine side Rosario Central pull out all the stops with incredible atmosphere against fierce rivals
Flares, confetti and even a giant inflatable supporter used as the player's tunnel was involved
AS Chelsea boss Antonio Conte seemed to anger Jose Mourinho by riling up the Stamford Bridge crowd, a derby match in Argentina showed the Italian how it’s done.
Rosario Central were taking on fierce rivals Newell’s Old Boys, the boyhood club of Lionel Messi, in a clash that whets the appetite in Argentina’s top league.
In incredible scenes, the players came out of a huge inflatable figure donning the home colours to a deafening noise from the supporters.
Hundreds of flags wave in the crowd as confetti is thrown on the pitch and flares ignited in the stands.
Unfortunately for the home side they fell to a 1-0 defeat thanks to a goal from ex-Liverpool midfielder Maxi Rodriguez.
Newell’s Old Boys, who sit second in the Argentine league, could welcome Messi back to the club one day after he left because they couldn’t afford his growth hormone treatment.
The club’s vice president Cristian D’Amico said: “I am convinced, like many of my peers, that we can make history as a club if we get the best player in the world in a Newell’s shirt.
“I think we’re going to get the pleasure of Messi wearing the shirt.”
