Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany says Manchester United will feel backlash after their poor run of form
Pep Guardiola's side are now five games without a win as they get set to travel to Manchester United in the EFL Cup
VINCENT KOMPANY reckons Manchester United will face the backlash after City’s clear-the-air talks.
Boss Pep Guardiola held a 50-minute inquest in the dressing room after their 1-1 draw against Southampton on Sunday.
Kompany hopes his cross-city rivals will be on the receiving end tomorrow in the EFL Cup.

He said: “Sometimes the fact the results don’t come gives you that extra edge to go and look deeper and improve — and that’s what’s been needed.
“I feel this team has got the best ahead of it but these kind of results will force us to look at improving again.
“We’re all highly ambitious and we realise we have to move as a unit and behave as a team.
“But I think it’s positive to have some sort of maturity in the team, to recognise we need to move forward.
“It’ll make us stronger, I’m confident of that.”
United boss Jose Mourinho has claimed the EFL Cup is bottom of his list of priorities but Kompany says the holders will be looking to win it.
City claimed bragging rights for the season’s first Manchester derby, winning 2-1 in the Premier League last month.
Asked if he was looking forward to another trip across Manchester, the skipper, 30, said: “Always. The bigger the game, the better.
“These games are what you play for. It’s impossible for me to play down a derby. But the more they say this is the fourth competition, the better it is for us.”
SunSport revealed last week City officials have held meetings with the Bayern Munich left-back, David Alaba, 24, over a £40million Etihad switch.
Alaba, who worked with Guardiola in Germany, said: “I miss Pep, I am grateful to him. He supported me over the years.”
