KEVIN STEWART has been rewarded for his breakthrough into the Liverpool first-team squad with a new deal at the club.

The 23-year-old midfielder only agreed a fresh contract in February but has since gone on to make a dozen appearances for the Anfield side.

And in that time he has managed to persuade Jurgen Klopp and the Kop hierarchy that he deserves improved terms to reflect his new senior status with the Premier League high-flyers.

The former Tottenham ace, who is now under contract until 2021, has already won praise from his German boss.

Following his performance in Liverpool's 4-1 win over Stoke in April, Klopp praised his “heart, smart challenges and really good positioning” in the triumph.

Stewart is not the only Liverpool youngster the club are looking to tie down.

England Under-19 man Trent Alexander-Arnold and fellow teen Ben Woodburn are in negotiations and are close to sealing new deals.

17-year-old Wood is a winger and has already featured for the club’s U23 side.

Alexander-Arnold has been included in Klopp’s matchday squad.
