Leicester contract news: Christian Fuchs pens new deal until 2019 after playing key role in historic title win

Left-back made immediate impact when he joined Foxes in 2015 and has now been rewarded with lucrative contract

CHRISTIAN FUCHS has become the latest Leicester star to sign a new contract.

The left-back joined on a free transfer from Schalke in 2015 and played a key role in the Foxes’ historic title win.

Fuchs’ current deal was set to expire in 2018 but he has now committed his future to the King Power Stadium until 2019.

Speaking to , the delighted Austrian said: “I’m happy. I’ve committed to the Club. We had a great last season and we’ve also done well so far this season in the Champions League.

“I’m happy here and I’ve had the best time of my career so far here. My name is the Austrian Fox and now I’m staying with the English Foxes.

“Nobody expected what we achieved so far and I think there’s still a lot to come. We built a good foundation and I think we can aim for more.

"It's a lot of fun being here and it’s amazing with the fans. Them and the Club itself just makes me feel so happy to be here.”

Fuchs isn’t the first to land a new contract following the title win, with Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Danny Drinkwater, Wes Morgan, Kasper Schmeichel, Marc Albrighton and Danny Simpson also signing on.

Claudio Ranieri has also extended his stay with Leicester until 2020 but is sure to be concerned by his side’s slow start to the new Premier League campaign.
